479 : Peter And The Centurion :YEAR 0040
The following day, they entered Caesarea and Cornelius was waiting for them,
having called together his kinsmen and close friends.
As Peter came in, Cornelius met him and fell down at his feet and worshipped him.
But Peter lifted him up, saying, "Stand up, I myself also am a man."
As they talked, he went in and found that there were many gathered together.
And Peter said to them, "You know that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company or visit with anyone of another people.
But God has taught me not to feel that any man is unclean.
Therefore I came to you without question as soon as I was sent for.
I ask now for what purpose you have sent for me?"
Cornelius told him of his vision.
Then Peter began to speak and said, "Truly I can see that God favours no person,
but among every people he who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him."
While Peter was speaking to them,the Holy Spirit fell on all those who heard his words.
And all those believers among the Jews who had come with Peter were astonished because the
gift of the Holy Spirit was poured out even upon the Gentiles.
For they heard them speak in strange words and glorify God.
Then Peter said, "Can any man deny them water to be baptized,
these who have received the Holy Spirit as well as we?"
And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord.
They begged him to remain with them for some days.
