382-383 : The Twelve Apostles Are Chosen

382-383 : The Twelve Apostles Are Chosen

AND it came to pass in those days that he went out into a mountain to pray,
 and continued all night in prayer to God.
And when it was day, he called to him his disciples, and of them he chose twelve,
  whom he also named apostles.
And he gave to them power to cast out unclean spirits, and to heal all kinds of sickness and all disease.
Now the names of the twelve apostles are these:
The first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother;
 James the son of Zebedee and John his brother; Philip and Bartholomew;
Thomas and Matthew the publican;
James the son of Alpheus and Lebbeus, whose surname was Thaddeus; Simon the Canaanite;
 and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him.

And he came down with them, and stood in the plain,
with the company of his disciples and a great multitude of people from all Judea and Jerusalem,
and from the sea coast of Tyre and Sidon, which came to hear him and to be healed from their diseases.
And they that were troubled with unclean spirits were healed.
And the whole multitude tried to touch him, for goodness went forth from him and healed every one of them.
