442-443 : Jesus and the Disciples

442-443 : Jesus and the Disciples

AS Jesus went out of the temple, one of his disciples said to Him,
"Look, Master,at these stones and these buildings!"
He said, "As for these things which you see,the days shall come when there
shall not be left one stone upon another that has not been thrown down."
And as he sat upon the Mount of Olives, his disciples came to him privately, saying,
"Tell us. When shall these things be?
And what shall be the sign of your coming and of the end of the world?"
And Jesus answered and said to them:
"Take care that no man deceives you. For many shall come in my name,
saying, 'I am Christ,' and shall deceive many. You shall hear of wars and rumours of wars,
but see that you do not become troubled, for all these things must come to pass.
This is not the end yet.
"For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.
There shall be famines and pestilences and earthquakes in different places.
All this is the beginning of sorrows."Then there shall be great troubles
such as there have not been since the beginning of the world,
troubles that there never have been and there never shall be.
And unless those days were to be shortened, no living things could be saved.
But for the sake of my chosen ones, those days shall be shortened.

THE END OF TIME

"The sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light,
and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken.
"Then the sign of the Son of man shall appear in the heavens,
and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn.
And they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet,
and they shall gather together his chosen ones from the four winds,
from one end of heaven to the other.
"Now learn a lesson from the fig tree:
When its branch is still tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near.
So likewise you, when you s€ee all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.
"Truly I say to you, this generation shall not pass until all these things are fulfilled.
Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
"No man knows the day and the hour, not even the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord will come.
But know this, that if the man of the house had known what  time the thief would come,

he would have watched and would not have allowed his house to be broken into.

"Therefore, be ready also. For at the time when you do not think it,
the Son of man is coming.
Blessed is the servant whom his lord shall find doing his duty when he comes.
Truly I tell you, he shall make him ruler over his goods.
