448-449 : The Last Supper
ON the day of unleavened bread,when the Passover lamb was to be sacrificed,
Jesus sent forth two of His disciples, saying, "Go into the city and prepare the Passover feast,
so that we may eat."
And the two disciples asked him:
"Where are we to prepare it?"He said, "When you have come into the city,
you will meet a man carrying a pitcher of water.
Follow him into the house he enters. And say to the man of the house, '
The Master says, "Where is the guest chamber where I shall eat the Passover feast with my
disciples?"' And he will show
you a large room, furnished. Make ready there."
They went and found it all as He had told them, and they prepared the Passover feast.
When the evening came, Jesus sat down with the twelve.
And He said to them, "How greatly I have desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer. For I tell you, I will not eat another until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God."
And as they were eating, Jesus took bread and blessed it,
and breaking it into pieces He gave it to them,
saying, "Take, eat; this is my body which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me."
After supper he took the cup and when he had glven thanks, he gave it to them saying:
"Drink you all of it; for this is the new testament in my blood,
which is shed for you and for many, for the forgiveness of sins.
Take this, and divide it among you.
For I say to you,
I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom."
