485 : Paul Writes To The Galatians
From Paul and all the brethren that are with me to the churches of Galatia:
"O foolish Galatians, who has bewitched you that you should not obey the truth,
you before whom Jesus Christ has been clearly set forth as crucified?
Only one thing would I have you tell me:
Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law or by the hearing of faith?
"Are you so foolish to believe that having begun in the Spirit, you are now made perfect by the flesh? He therefore that ministers to you the Spirit and works miracles among you,
does he do it by the works of the law or by the hearing of faith?
"Be sure that they which are of faith are the children of Abraham.
"Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law.
Before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up until faith should be revealed.
The law was our schoolmaster to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
But after faith has come, we no longer need a schoolmaster.
"You are the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free,
there is neither male nor female, for you are all one in Jesus Christ.
And if you are Christ's, then you are children of Abraham and heirs to the promises of God.
